What is Catreath?

Catreath is a live action roleplaying game set in a fantasy version of the Kingdom of Northumbria in the 7th century. Everyone in the game takes the role of a person living in that kingdom, usually in or around the city of Novum Castellum (the in-game name for Newcastle). Players can interract with the world, gain or lose position and reputation, affect battle tactics or the world of politics, become heroes or fall by the wayside.

The game runs through different types of events. There are regular monthly adventures, where the players are usually hired to perform some mission or service which they must then attempt to do. These adventures usually last for 3-6 hours. There are weekend events a few times a year, where players can live, eat and sleep as their characters whilst dealing with any events that come their way. Between adventures players can decide on what their character is doing, talk to other characters, research, train and make plans for the future, during 'downtime'. This is usually done through email.

New players are always welcome. We can provide all costume and props for new players the first few times they come if necessary.
